Advanced Wireless, Inc. (AWI) headquartered in Milwaukee, WI, and Symbol Technologies, Inc. of Holtsville, NY today announced the awarding of over $30,000 worth of wireless LAN equipment and support services to Vieau School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Vieau is a school located on Milwaukee’s Southside and is part of the Milwaukee Public School system.  This donation grew out of AWI’s Wireless School Initiative announced by AWI in 2005.

Darryl D. Morin, President and CEO of AWI stated “This program underscores AWI’s commitment to being not only a world class partner with our customers, but with our community as well.”  Morin added “it is incumbent upon all of us in the private sector to assist where we can in providing the best education possible for our children.  With the addition of Symbol Technologies as a co-sponsor of this initiative, we will be accelerating our plans to award and implement additional wireless LAN networks to additional schools.  The Wireless School Initiative has the stated goal of implementing wireless technology in at least one school per year for the remaining eight years of this budgeted initiative.

The award will include $10,000 worth of equipment, design and installation services along with over $20,000 worth of technical support over the next five (5) years.  The Wireless LAN solution (WLAN) will utilize Symbol Technologies industry leading WS5100 series wireless switch and 802.11 a/b/g compliant AP300 access ports.  When combined with AWI installation and support services, Vieau School will have a high performance, secure, scalable, and supported solution that will not just meet the needs of today, but the future as well.
